Carolyn Kay enjoys crossing genres, and imagining what normally inanimate objects would do if given life. She is currently collaborating with award-winning illustrator, Chaz Kemp, on the World of Ashelon, a series of novellas set in a steampunk fantasy world. FICTION FOUNDRY PRESENTS: IN THE WOODS

"Scarlet and the Woodsman"

Strange things can happen in the woods.

Sometimes they’re frightening.
Sometimes they’re funny.
Sometimes they’re just plain weird.

The authors of the Fiction Foundry writers’ critique group have taken it upon themselves to explore all the strange things that happen in the often majestic and yet often harsh woodlands.

Featuring contributions by John H. Howard, Sangita Kalarickal, Josh Snider, Carolyn Kay, Robert Lewis, Charli Cowan, Henry Snider, Shiloh Silveira, Kari J. Wolfe, Christophe Maso, and Hollie Snider, this anthology brings us out of urban life and shows a world of forest spirits, haints, mental illness, parasitic spiders, werewolves, out of control plants, evil forces, reincarnation, humans with animal ears, witches, and Lovecraftian horrors.

And all of them can be found…In the Woods.

The gods themselves state that their souls are destroyed upon death with no hope of salvation in the afterlife. Princess Galessel is sikevra. Can Galessel and her loyal friend, Clove, save the fae living in Ashelon before someone can collect the bounty on her head? Can she foil Queen Victoria’s scheme to invade the Hidden Lands? And if that weren’t enough, the Hammer Guardians have returned to slay as many of the fae folk they can get their hands on…starting with Galessel and Clove.
