Sher Laughlin

Sher Laughlin

Sher Silveira Laughlin was born and raised on the Mendocino Coast of California. Her writing has been called magical realism, for she can’t help but infuse her stories with the mystic and mundane influences of her mixed Azorean/Finnish heritage. She was inspired early on by Márquez, Allende and Esquivel and eventually found herself in Mexico City where she lived for three years. Sher now lives in the Twin Cities with her family and works in the magical world of finance. As she was taught, she talks to her vegetable garden, keeps a bag of runes and a copy of the Kalevala on her nightstand, lights a votive to Nossa Senhora dos Milagres and works on her first novel in the early morning hours.
